We are now looking for a Hydrometallurgy, Mineral Processing Engineer and Resource Geologist for the Sokli project. Read more below!

Finnish Minerals Group is comprised of the following companies: Finnish Minerals Group (Suomen Malmijalostus Oy), Terrafame Oy, a multi-metal company, Finnish Battery Chemicals Oy, a project company preparing battery value chain investments, and Sokli Oy, a mining project in Savukoski. In addition, Finnish Minerals Group owns 20% of Keliber Oy, 40% of CNGR Finland Oy, 30% of Easpring Finland New Materials Oy and 49% of Adven-FMG Sodium Sulphate Solutions Oy.
Sokli (Savukoski, NE Finland) is a polymetallic deposit which has been studied for over 50 years' time. Sokli carbonatite deposit is potential for many raw materials (for example phosphorus and rare earth elements), which are critical in the transition for climate neutrality.
We are looking for a Hydrometallurgy to join our team to support the process development for the Sokli ores. The position is permanent, and you will be employed by Sokli Oy.
Key duties and responsibilities
- You promote and demonstrate safe behavior in all situations in your work
- You maintain a professional work environment and encourage team members to develop their skills
- You take part in planning, supervising and reporting of test executions
- You communicate and act in cooperation with research centers to ensure the quality and schedule of test programs
- Your draw conclusions based on achieved results and utilize the information in planning of next tests
- You report the achieved results within the organization
Sokli has offices in Savukoski, Espoo and Oulu, in addition to the mining area near Savukoski. The job location can be any of these four, as agreed upon, but the position offers extensive remote work opportunities. However, the job duties require occasional travel, including to the mining area.
Candidate profile
- You promote and demonstrate safe behavior in all situations
- Education suitable for the position, for example process or chemical engineering in master’s degree
- Knowledge in hydrometallurgical leaching, solution purification and recovery processes
- Earlier experience in developing hydrometallurgical processes
- Organizational ability and focus on solutions
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Willingness to work with different stakeholders
- Willingness to travel to participate test trials
- Ability to adapt to changes and varying work tasks
- Good command of Finnish and English
What is considered an advantage
- Earlier experience in mineral process development
- Work experience in production in the mining industry
- Earlier experience in refining of phosphate, rare earth elements and/or niobium concentrates

- Willingness to travel to participate test trials
- Ability to adapt to changes and varying work tasks
- Good command of Finnish and English
What is considered an advantage
- Work experience in mining development projects or production in the mining industry
- Earlier experience in separation of phosphate, rare earth elements, niobium and iron bearing minerals
- Competence in process modelling with HSC software or similar

We are now looking for a Resource Geologist to join our Sokli Project. The employment is a fixed term until March 31st 2026. Sokli Oy is the employer.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Always promoting and demonstrating safe behavior
- Maintain a professional work environment and encourage team members to develop their skills
- Analyzing and interpreting geological data to assess mineral resources.
- Creating and updating 3D geological models using software such as Leapfrog Geo or equivalent.
- Preparing resource estimation reports in accordance with international reporting standards (e.g., UNFC, PERC, NI 43-101).
- Maintaining databases
- Collaborating closely with exploration, processing development, and other project teams.
- Ensuring the management and documentation of geological data as part of project requirements.
- Logging and interpreting drill core data to refine resource estimations.

Our expectations for you
- An attitude emphasizing safety, environmental awareness and responsibility
- A relevant degree in geosciences or a related field
- Organizational skills and independent decision-making ability
- Familiarity with international mineral resource reporting standards (e.g., UNFC, PERC, NI 43-101)
- Experience in geological modeling and mineral resource estimation
- Proficiency in modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Surpac, Datamine) and GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS)
- Strong analytical skills for integrating and interpreting large geological datasets
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Considered an advantage
- Previous experience in an ore exploration project and/or in the mining sector
- Knowledge of carbonatitic ores and/or lateritic ores
- An enthusiastic and motivated attitude towards learning new things
- Membership or accreditation in an international professional community (AusIMM, EurGeol, P.Geo)
