Our associated company's CAM project environmental permit now legally valid
The environmental permit granted by the Regional State Administrative Agency for the CAM plant, that is planned to be established in Kotka, has become legally binding on 5 December 2024.
09. December 2024
The environmental permit granted to Easpring Finland New Materials Oy, an associated company of Finnish Minerals Group, for the CAM plant is now legally binding, as no appeals were received against the permit decision.
“This is a fantastic achievement for our entire project team and enables the project to progress to the next phase. We have invested a lot of time in the design of the plant and regular stakeholder engagement with local people, which is reflected in the smooth progress of the permit process. Furthermore, the permit application was processed under the green transition priority procedure,” comments Timo Strengell, SVP of Battery Value Chain at Finnish Minerals Group.
The CAM plant is planned for the Keltakallio industrial area in Kotka, and its operations are intended to start in 2026. Once operational, the plant will produce cathode active material, which is essential for the electrification of transportation and energy storage.
Finnish Minerals Group owns 30 percent of Easpring Finland and has been involved in planning the project for several years. The CAM plant is an industrial project worth approximately 770 million euros.
